================================================================ Title : Coliseum Filename : ds2v1i.WAD and ds2v1ii.wad Author : David J. E. Simmonds Email Address : [email protected] Misc. Author Info : RF Engineer for Nokia Mobile Phones UK Description : This is a medium size level designed for Single Player and Deathmatch, with an emphasis on design and appearance. The idea is based on a Roman coliseum were you fight for the entertainment of an audience. In this case most of the audience is active and will shot at you. The level consists of a central arena and four peripheral rooms, each with an audience. To finish the level you have to obtain the keys in order, Yellow, Red and Blue. In so doing, you will collect weapons in order, chaingun, rocket launcher, plasma rifle and BFG. The enterance to each room is colour coded by corresponding light sources. In alt-deathmatch mode the centre arena was designed to provide a focal point, were ammo and the super shotgun may be obtained. Also, you have to run by each other in the arena to get to the weapons rooms. Some rooms contain dark areas suitable for ambush. Additional items are present in deathmatch mode. Your goal should be to find the hidden switch that opens up the secret telporter rooms and thus gain access to the items on the pillars (hint, try the blue room). A teleporter room may be found off all four of the peripheral rooms, and the items on the pillars to the left and right at each enterance are accesed by corresponding teleporters. Note: Although this is not a particularly big level it may run slowly on some machines due to the graphical complexity of the central area. In deathmatch you could try running with the Nomonsters option and/or decrease screen size. Separate pwads are provided for DOOM and DOOM II, I would recommend the DOOM II version since this contains a greater variety of monsters. ds2v1.zip should contain the following files; ds2v1.txt - what you're reading now ds2v2i.wad - pwad file for original Doom ds2v2ii.wad - pwad file for DOOM II Version history ds2v1.zip - Original version Additional Credits to : ID Software, DEU, BSP, EDMAP creators. Numerous level creators for ideas. Steve, Paul, Dave, Allan and Richard for some excellent Deathmatch games. ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : E3M1 DOOM I, MAP02 DOOM II Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes Difficulty Settings : Yes, Easy, Medium and Hard New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : No Demos Replaced : No * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : DEU 5.2gcc, BSP 1.2x, Edmap Known Bugs : Need Doom 1.666 or will get HOMs. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels, unless credit is given.
