General Description : "20 Years of Doom" is a collection of 9 medium-sized Boom-compatible maps made by members of the French
Doom Community to celebrate our favorite game's 20th birthday.
The project's goal was the following : Each map in this set is to be composed of various elements inspired by 3 consecutive maps from
the classic Doom IWad and arranged in a new fashion, allowing you to revisit Knee-Deep in the Dead, The Shores of Hell
and Inferno in a condensed yet revamped way.

Level name : Phobos Inner Station

Build time : ~3 days
Editor(s) used : Doom Builder 1.68, XWE 1.16, Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5
Music track : "At Doom's Gate" by Bobby Prince
Bugs : Nothing game-breaking hopefully, the map is rushed so maybe some bugs remain.
Inspiration : E1M1, E1M2 and E1M3 from The Ultimate Doom, Suspended in Dusk,
 Back to Basics, Vela Pax
Author comments : A small-sized UAC outpost set on Phobos, complete with computer rooms and
 nukage dumps.

"Phobos Inner Station" is the second map I made for this project. One of the initial
goals here was to have all maps completed before Doom's 20th birthday, and
sadly it wasn't the case. Another French mapper called ironmugen had started a map,
but sadly he couldn't be there to finish it and something went wrong when he sent
us his wad file. On December the 9th, two maps were missing ( E1M1 and E1M9 ), thus
I offered to take care of a map as fast as I could, and JC asked me to do E1M1
while E1M9 would be made by SidZetmeck.

The map is named after "Phobos Station", ironmugen's attempt. It's a little rough
around the edges but should be fun nonetheless, and I think it's a tad easier than my
other Shotgun massacres. The E1M1-style shortcuts may provide interesting routes
 for demos, we'll see.

Level name : Slough of Kept Pandemonium
Author(s) : Oxyde
Build time : 6 hours
Editor(s) used : Doom Builder 1.68
Music track : D_E3M3
Bugs : None that I know of
Inspiration : All 3 maps from the base Episode 3 episode. I kept the linearity of E3M1, the automap drawing and rocky maze atmosphere for E3M2 and the techy/weird theme with absolute freedom in E3M3
Author comments : Well I'm glad this one's over so I can focus on other projects such as 3 Heures d'Agonie 2 !

I thank all the participants of the project. without them and their supports, this wad will be already abandoned.

Level name : Living Inferno
Author(s) : William "[WH]-Wilou84" Huber
Build time : ~3 weeks, on and off
Editor(s) used : Doom Builder 1.68, XWE 1.16, Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5
Music track : "Death Waltz in B minor" by John "PRIMEVAL" S. Weekley
Bugs : None that I know of, aside from a couple misaligned textures maybe
Inspiration : E3M7, E3M8 and E3M9 from the original Doom ( Duh )
Author comments : A place of fear and agony, filled to the brim with toxic blood and demons.

"Living Inferno" contains what is ( in my opinion ) among the most memorable
elements from the 3 maps I had to imitate : the teleporters and blood maze from E3M7,
the Spider Mastermind battle from E3M8, and the extra areas in E3M9 with
Cyberdemons / Barons etc.

E3M7's influence is probably the most prevalent here. If you get lost, remember to use
the automap and try to figure out the teleporter puzzle. You won't get very far without
the two keys though, and both are heavily guarded.

The ending fight is an attempt at making a decent slaughter moment with Doom monsters only.
Since the Spider Masterminds are so lame and weak ( particularly to the BFG9000 which
the player would carry at this point ), this time they'll receive some help and
have the upper ground. Good luck.

Anyway, happy 20th birthday to my favorite IWad !
See you in 10 years.
