What is this? ------------- Duel32 is a collection of sixteen of the greatest oldschool duel maps ever made, complete with a voting map where players may pick which map they would like to play. What maps are contained in this mapset? --------------------------------------- In alphabetical order: BAHDKO1, BOO, BRIT10 MAP07, BRIT11 MAP01, BRIT11 MAP05, DOOM2 MAP01, DWANGO5 MAP01, DWANGO5 MAP07, DWANGO6 MAP01, DWANGO6 MAP11, DWELLER2 MAP01, DWELLER2 MAP11, FOXTROT_, FULOSER, GREENWAR MAP20, GREENWAR MAP24, JUDAS23_, KING1, LAZARUS1J MAP01, LAZARUS1J MAP04, MANCERX MAP01, MOO2D, OBLIVX, POBLA8, SIPOOMA, SSL2, STYXDM01 MAP01, UDM3 MAP03, UDM3 MAP09, UROBUROS, XENOSX9 MAP04, XFIRE5. SHOOT and DUEL16 are also available in the center of the map. Also in the center of the map is a random map selector, which will select one of the 32 main maps (but not of the 2 practice maps). The maps from DOOM2 are not, strictly speaking, contained in this mapset, however they are selectable. Most of the authors of these maps have long since moved on from the doom community and are impossible to get in touch with. However, for almost every map by a current author, I have asked their permission before including them in this compilation. I am a server admin. How do I set up a server with this mapset? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Configuration-wise, there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind. First, there should be a 'map rotation' that only consists of START. Second of all, you should set the gametype to duel, and the duellimit to 1. Finally you should set the fraglimit to some non-zero number so duels don't last forever. That's it for bare minimum configuration if you only want the server up and running. However, these maps were designed with doom2.exe in mind, and as such I highly recommend that you tune your server to be as close to 'oldschool' settings as you feel comfortable. At the very bare minimum, you should turn off jumping, freelook and crouching, but I highly suggest looking through the Skulltag documentation yourself and familiarizing yourself with the maps contained in this mapset and use your own judgement. The voting map is cool! Can I use it in my levelset? ----------------------------------------------------- Sure, there's no reason that you can't make your own compilations as well! Check out the script source for the START map. I wouldn't suggest simply copy-and-pasting the entire thing though, as there are various bits that have nothing to do with selecting maps. Who helped you create this? --------------------------- I'm not even going to try and name every person who has ever helped me with this project. The main shoutouts go to the map authors, for creating such awesome maps. Ralphis gets a shoutout for creating an awesome D5M1 remix for the START map. The Skulltag developers, of course, get a shoutout for entertaining my feature requests and fixing bugs. Everybody who has ever pointed out a bug gets mad props as well. However, most of all, thank you... yes you...for making this compilation so popular.
