=========================================================================== Primary purpose : Single play =========================================================================== Title : BRutal EXtinction International Tournament Filename : brexit.zip Release date : 2019-06-23 Author : Jonathan Dowland Email Address : [redacted] Other Files By Author : 10sectors; WadC; bits of PrBoom (and PrBoom+ etc.); Chocolate Doom (& Crispy Doom, Doom Retro etc.); HWadTools; Liquorice; Doom Noir; Freedoom; HUMP… Misc. Author Info : see https://jmtd.net/doom/ Description : You are an unwitting contestant on the hottest live TV event of the century, the BRutal EXtinction International Tournament! Winner takes all! No time to sit on your ass, it's time to start running! This is an arena-style map for Vanilla Doom 2, inspired by Smash TV and "The Running Man" movie. It was built as a demonstration of effects you can achieve with vanilla conveyor-belt scripting, using a technique recently discovered by Mikolah/Linguica on the Doomworld Forums. The map was authored as a WadC script. The source is included in the WADCSRC lump within the PWAD, including the "vanilla_conveyor.h" file, which can be used to build vanilla conveyors for other PWADs if so desired. (the files are kind-of smooshed together in the lump and need to be separated). This WadC script should work with WadC v3.0. A future version of WadC will include vanilla_conveyor.h in the standard library. NOTE: Skill 1 is broken. The fix is to carefully adjust the conveyor set up in line with the hand-built demo maps produced by Nine Inch Heels. But, I've ran out of time to do that for personal reasons. This might be fixed in a future update. Additional Credits to : Andrew "Linguica" Stine and Mikolah for discovering the engine hacks required for vanilla conveyor trigger scripts. Wouter "Aardappel" Oortmerssen for creating WadC. RestlessRodent for ChocoRenderLimits, and Julia Nechaevskaya for porting it to SDL2 and keeping it alive. Nine Inch Heels for experimenting with conveyor tuning. Dew for playtesting. =========================================================================== * What is included * New levels : 1 Sounds : No Music : No Graphics : Yes Dehacked/BEX Patch : No Demos : No Other : No Other files required : None * Play Information * Game : Doom 2 Map # : MAP01 Single Player : Designed for Cooperative 2-4 Player : Player starts only Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Player starts only Other game styles : None Difficulty Settings : Skills 2-5 only: 1 (I'm Too Young To Die) is broken * Construction * Base : New from scratch Build Time : 2½ months Editor(s) used : WadC, Omgifol for some texture fine-tuning and the sidedef scroll hack (see included .py file), Eureka for debugging.
