================================================================ Title : Shiprock Author : Myles Williams Email Address : [email protected] Misc. Author Info : Electrical Engineering student with too much free time. Description : This level is a replica of the Rose Pauson residence (Shiprock) designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Both floors are accessible, connected by an almost invisible mechanism. To access all parts of this level, you must use the accompanying DeHackEd patch. Deathmatch starts, weapons & an exit are included for people who want to play war games inside a work of art. Otherwise, it is set up only for a one-person walk-through. Additional Credits to : My father for the idea and the floorplan; Frank Lloyd Wright; the authors of all the editors I used; Matt Fell for the Doom Specs; and, of course, id. ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : E1M1 Single Player : Yes (no monsters) Cooperative 2-4 Player : No Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes (untested) Difficulty Settings : Not implemented New Sounds : No New Graphics : No Demos Replaced : None * Construction * Base : Floor plan and photographs of the house Editor(s) used : DEU, BSP, DeHackEd Known Bugs : Because the DeHackEd patch lowers the player width, it may be possible for player's graphic to be seen on the other side of a wall. If you have this problem, let me know. * Copyright / Permissions * Recipients may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels. Recipients MAY use the stairway mechanism used to link multiple floors in their own levels. ================================================================ Title : Shiprock (deathmatch version) Author : Myles Williams Email Address : [email protected] Misc. Author Info : Electrical Engineering student with too much free time. Description : This level is a replica of the Rose Pauson residence (Shiprock) designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Both floors are accessible, connected by a transport mechanism. I'm still looking for a way to turn off the sound, but for now consider it a feature, not a bug. This new version DOES allow death- match play. Simply start the game on Ultra-violence or Nightmare level and all the stuff will be there. No monsters are present at any skill level. SHIPROCK: A Frank Lloyd Wright House This Doom 1 level is a replica of the Rose Pauson residence, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The house was built in Phoenix in 1939, and a fire from the living-room fireplace destroyed it in 1942. The concrete structure became known as Shiprock, and remained until 1980. By creative placement of teleporters, I have allowed the player to walk through both floors of the house with only a slight discontinuity. This level is intended as a tour of the house. No monsters are included at any level, but deathmatch equipment is available in Ultra-Violence mode for those who _insist_ on playing war games inside a work of art. To play this level properly, you will have to install the accompanying DeHackEd 2.3 patch file. DeHackEd is available at all Internet Doom archives, or if you got this level on a CD, it might be on that CD. Note that if you set up DeHackEd incorrectly, you could permanently change your DOOM.EXE, and I will not be held accountable! Once the patch is installed, start Doom with the command doom -file wadpath\shiprock.wad -warp 1 1 -skill 1 substituting the modified DOOM.EXE filename for "doom" and the correct path of shiprock.wad for "wadpath". Note: The patch lowers the player width to fit through narrow halls, and suppresses the teleport flash. ================================================================ Credits : My father for the idea and the floorplan; Frank Lloyd Wright; the authors of all the editors I used; Matt Fell for the Doom Specs; and, of course, id. These are not bugs, they're glass windows. * Copyright / Permissions * Recipients may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels.
