SPIT.WAD

A new episode. Not just original levels with 10 Barons of Hell on level 1! This might not challenge DOOM veterans very much. But, if you're like me, and just...

                                 === INFO ===

Welcome to my addition to the world o' WAD files filling up people's
hard drives! Instead of making one level WADs, I decided to just go for the
big 9. Yeah, thats right, a whole new episode! Wow. Aren't you amazed?

Before you go onto play, I should say first that these levels aren't
exactly as elaborate as the other WADs going around. (Personally, I hate
those crazy, brain busting kinds of levels, whatever happened to running
around killing Imps & Demons?) As a matter o' fact, this whole WAD is just
barely 250k! (The average size of each level is like 20-30k!), I know
some 1 level PWAD's out there that are almost as big as this whole episode!
But if you're like me, and are bored of the original DOOM levels (And maybe
DOOM itself), and just play for 2 levels then quit... this episode might be
for you! It might also be good for beginners too.

Most DOOM veterans should be able to finish this whole episode in like...
I'd say... 30-40 minutes. And if you're a real hotshot, you might just quit
after the first level and say "This sucks!" heheh. I'd say an hour should be
the most it should take you to finish the whole episode. Hopefully you'll
appreciate the 2-3 weeks it took for this WAD to be made and play at least
once. :)

And for any new DOOM players out there... to get this WAD or any other
WADs out there to work, just type:

  DOOM -FILE xxxxxxxx.WAD

Make sure the WAD file is in your DOOM directory!
(Where the x's are is the name of the WAD file.)

So, to get SPIT.WAD to work you type:

   DOOM -FILE SPIT.WAD

Make sure SPIT.WAD is in your DOOM directory!

It'll then say something like: "This version of DOOM has been modified..
blah blah blah blah Press (Enter)" So do what it says, and press enter!
DOOM will continue to load up as normal. When everythings loaded up,
just choose the first episode and whatever difficulty setting you want.
(DOOM vets should pick Ultra Violence)

If you didn't understand all that. Well.... there's always that nice
little batch file I've included with this.

=== WHY THE NAME SPIT? ===

At first I wasn't gonna' use SPIT as the name, but I decided to keep it
just for the heck of it. I guess I'm just making fun of the .WAD extension.
SPIT.WAD uhhh... SPITWAD. Get it?

                              === THE STORY ===

Story!? WHAT!? Who cares! Just go in and blow everything in sight away!
I won't make some corny story up like: You are apart of an Elite special
forces team sent to one of Mars' moons to rescue a special new remote
control! Its the RC-1001! The Federation's prized Remote control built by
Chevrolet! See what I mean?

=== BONUS WAD FILE! (WOW! WHATTA' BARGAIN!) ===

Guess what? You also get another WAD file that is made for DeathMatch
mode! (Well, not exactly, read on to find out why.) The file is:"DMATCH.WAD"
If you've ever watched American Gladiators, and the one event where the
gladiator shoots at the player, you'll know what this is about!

I haven't had any time to try this out yet, but I'm pretty sure it'll
work. Its just an idea that popped in my head and I decided to see if it'll
work out on DOOM. If it doesn't work right, you've got my permission to
modify it to work as long as you credit who made it first!

Oh yeah, here's something important! Since DeathMatch mode always puts
you in random spots, you have to start the game up as a 2 player cooperative
game instead. Otherwise, the level just won't work out right at all.

If you've never seen this event on American Gladiators, its very simple.
You are in a big room, with 5 wall barriers. Player 2 (The gladiator), is
up high at the other end of the room. Player 1 has to go from wall to wall
and try to kill Player 2. At the walls near the back, there are ammo clips.
The middle walls have shotguns and shells, and the last wall has a chain gun
with a box of bullets. If you get up to the last wall and still can't kill
Player 2, you can keep running toward a switch at the front. This switch,
when pressed, will open a wall near Player 2 and unleash a whole bunch of
Barons of Hell. You can then listen to Player 2's screams of pain, laugh
at him/her and send "YOU SUCK!" messages to them!

Player 2's job is very simple. When you start out, just move forward as
far as you can and you should pick up the rocket launcher, backpack, and
boxes of rockets. I've made it so you can't fall down onto the playing field
for obvious reasons. From here, its pretty much obvious what to do. Try to
(Literally) blow the crap out of Player 1!!

Notice that when someone is killed, you'll have to exit out to DOS and
restart the whole thing. Its something that just can't be helped because
thats the way DOOM is. Which is why I wouldn't suggest this be played
through the modem. However, if you insist on playing through the modem,
well, thats your choice. It should still work though.

Here's a map of the playing field and what you're supposed to do:
                                 ____
 KEY: | + |

                        | S-- --sh | Look at the numbers to see
                        | 3 4 | where you should run.
                        |-__ __-|
                        | C-- --C |
                        | 1 2 |
                        | |
                        | * |
                        |_____________________|

I know its probably easier to just run straight to the switch and end it, but
if you do that, then whats the use of playing in the first place? I also
put a pool of "Nukage" at the front of the room so Player 1 can't hide there
and avoid Player 2's rockets.

And of course you don't have to play by my rules, make up your own and have
fun!
                            === OTHER CRAP... ===

If you see anything in this WAD file you think is stolen (Except for the
ending), too bad! As far as I know, everything is original. Have a nice
day!

Don't forget to download my NBA Jam Sounds for DOOM if you haven't already
done so. You get cool comments like: "Boom-shaka-laka!", "The nail in
the coffin!", "Is it the shoes?", and other NBA Jam comments. Available
on America Online, my BBS "This BBS Sucks", or maybe other BBS's around the
world...

And if any of you id Software guys read this, have no fear, this WAD will not
work on shareware versions of DOOM.

Oh yeah, special thanks go out to: Dr. Todd, Jadawin, Rob Meyer, and
Dr. "Floppias" Dude (Its an inside joke) for trying out this WAD file in its
early stages. And of course to id Software for making DOOM in the first
place!

Oh yeah, special thanks go out to: Dr. Todd, Jadawin, Rob Meyer, and

                                 === INFO ===

SPITWAD. Get it?

                              === THE STORY ===

Story!? WHAT!?

                                 ____
 KEY: | + |
 * = Player 1 Start             | %  |

 C = Ammo clip                  | %  |     |6|

 B = Box of bullets     |                     |
 G = Chaingun           |                     |

                        |B G-- |
                        | 5 | The intended way to play is
                        |-__ __-| to run from wall to wall.
                        | S-- --sh | Look at the numbers to see
                        | 3 4 | where you should run.
                        |-__ __-|
                        | C-- --C |
                        | 1 2 |
                        | |
                        | * |
                        |_____________________|

I know its probably easier to just run straight to the switch and end it, but
if you do that, then whats the use of playing in the first place? I also
put a pool of "Nukage" at the front of the room so Player 1 can't hide there
and avoid Player 2's rockets.

And of course you don't have to play by my rules, make up your own and have
fun!
                            === OTHER CRAP... ===

And of course to id Software for making DOOM in the first
place!

I know its probably easier to just run straight to the switch and end it, but
if you do that, then whats the use of playing in the first place? I also
put a pool of "Nukage" at the front of the room so Player 1 can't hide there
and avoid Player 2's rockets.

And of course you don't have to play by my rules, make up your own and have
fun!
                            === OTHER CRAP... ===

And of course to id Software for making DOOM in the first
place!

Description : A new episode. Not just original levels with 10
Barons of Hell on level 1! This might not
challenge DOOM veterans very much. But, if you're
like me, and just play DOOM for 5 minutes then
                          quit, this is for you!
