Author                  : WildWeasel
Email Address           : [email protected]
Other Files By Author : DOOMOS.WAD (Doom: Operational Support)
Misc. Author Info : Shooter fan, bitter from the Far Cry demo being so freakin' huge and lasting about 15 minutes tops.
Description : A set of crappy model-rip weapons, the Plasma gun from Doom 64, and a gun from lame Duke. Being my newbie mod, this was pretty crappy...I even hosted it on a Geocities webpage back in the day. The font I used for the title screen, Worldnet, was probably ripped from Blambot. (More info at the bottom)
Additional Credits to : MofoOfSpades for providing the plasma and flare projectiles, and the hundreds of artists who I stole sounds and models from.

* What is included *
New levels : None - this is a weapon mod
Sounds : Yes - mostly from CS, RtCW, and AHL, but plasma, AK-47, and BFG fire sounds are my original creations
Music                   : No
Graphics : Yes - crappy Half-Life model rips.
Dehacked/BEX Patch : Uses EDGE DDF system.
Demos                   : No
Other : Nothing to speak of.
Other files required    : EDGE.
* Play Information *
Game                    : DOOM / DOOM2
Map #                   : I didn't make maps.
Single Player           : Yes!
Cooperative 2-4 Player  : EDGE doesn't support
Deathmatch 2-4 Player : multiplayer yet.
Other game styles : So forget it!
Difficulty Settings : Whatever the map supports.
* Construction *
Base : Too many to count. I feel so ashamed.
Build Time : A couple of months.
Editor(s) used : Wintex 3.7, Goldwave, Cool Edit, Paint Shop Pro 3
Known Bugs : My Imp replacement wouldn't work for some reason, so I had to replace it with a single shotgun shell. This makes some maps totally unplayable, and upsets the balance of the game. Also, the Riot Shotgun disappears for one of its reloading frames.
May Not Run With... : Legacy. Not like you'd want to anyway.

Weasel's Weapons Official Text File Additions...

In 2001, I discovered EDGE and Cory Whittle's "Immoral Conduct" DDF mod. I was truly enticed by the effects he put in - all those weapons, the reloading, the shell casings... I grabbed myself a copy of the DDF documents and got straight to work on a mod of my own. I needed placeholder graphics for my first weapon, the Pistol, so I ripped one from my copy of Counter Strike. I went downhill from there, doing all sorts of stupid things to my mod. Then I decided to release it and spam the Doomworld and Newdoom news accounts. Joy of joys, I was on the front page. Neither site had a comments system lined up for news, so I was unable to find what people thought of my mod. In the end, I was asking people on the Edge forums about tossing me projectile graphics to use in the mod. MofoOfSpades happened to be working on an EDGE mod of his own, based on the Mario games (and he had some nice sprite graphics too), so I saw fit for him to help. He provided the plasma gun projectiles. I then decided to put in the flare pistol (which was really just a rocket launcher that used cells), and asked him to do something for me. I got a 3D Studio Max render of 105 frames of a burning fire. That worked, I guessed. Finally, for my BFG, I still had not found suitable graphics for it. I took the Shock Rifle from Lameduke and tried my best to MSPaint a glove on the hand (you can see I was a total newb at it, too). The Final Version was posted on my Geocities website, shortly before I took it down and moved to Tripod. I don't use my Tripod space anymore.

So now, Weasel's Weapons, a piece of my heritage, makes its way to The Newstuff Chronicles. I don't expect anything higher than an "Uber Crap" review for it - because not only are the weapons totally overdone in both concept and (occasionally) model rips, I didn't do a good job on the ripping (animations are choppy, and the palette was really grainy and/or washed out), sounds are cliche by now (how many times have we heard CS and RtCW sounds now?), and the balance it totally upset by my lack of an Imp replacement (and the hordes of extra shotgun shells lying around in their place). Enjoy the suicide. -- Weasel
