Compiling and editing : cybershark Email Addresses : [email protected] Other Files By Authors : Too many to list... Misc. Author Info : A bunch of folks who aren't around anymore? Description : 20 maps which failed to make the cut for the last ZDCTF map pack. Sometimes for good reason, often simply because the maps never got finished. Also included are alternate versions of two MP3 maps. Designed to run as either a stand-alone PWAD, loaded after ZDCTFMP1,2 & 3 or with the anthology version - 4CTFEPIC. Additional Credits to : Everyone who helped me dig out all of these maps and gave me permission to use them. Big thanks to Rygrass for setting me out on this project by hooking me up with some old ZDCTF betas. Big thanks to all the playtesters and bugspotters. Extra special thanks : AlexMax, who provided me info, every single archive he had, a few MIDIs and also his blessing. Worst, for his invaluable help in getting 'Under Siege' working right. TUD, for helping solve issues with 'Under Siege' and getting me started with GLDEFS (so dynamic lighting is correct under OpenGL rendering). =========================================================================== * What is included * New levels : MAP31 "Technocracy" by CodeImp MAP32 "Congestive Issues" by EarthQuake MAP33 "Mettle" by Mephisto MAP34 "Pier Pressure" by Izm MAP35 "The VG Museum" by Snowbro MAP36 "Subway" by Earthquake MAP37 "Exophase III" (alternate version) by Exl MAP38 "Deimos Reloaded" by UrHaSh and Fyre MAP39 "Under Siege" (original version) by The Ultimate DooMer MAP40 "Caliginous" author unknown - possibly Mephisto MAP41 "Yalexa" by Snowbro MAP42 "Lesser Room" by Exl MAP43 "Twin Temples" by AlexMax MAP44 "Icecap" by Washu MAP45 "LaCTF" by Bloodlust MAP46 "Nightmoves" by Da_maniaC MAP47 "JACKTHERIPPER'S TWO LIMBOS" by JacKThERiPPeR MAP48 "The Last Stand" by Nestea MAP49 "L.A. Just make sure that all those screwy air dynamics are turned off, or the jumppads in maps 39 and 47 may end up broken. * Construction * Base : New levels from scratch Build Time : Several years really Editor(s) used : WADED, Doom Builder, WadAuthor, LView Pro 2004, DeePsea, XWE, Wintex, etc, etc Known Bugs : This pack was designed to work harmoniously with ZD/STCTFMP1-3. It does, however, have some ambient soundclashes and wrong skies on some maps if run with 4CTFEPIC. Why the hell were the sounds even renumbered in that pack?! x_x Catapult on map39 looks weird on 4ctfepic. Nightmoves won't run on current version of ZDaemon, and it'll still lag older machines at high res. May Not Run With... : Anything other than ZDaemon and Skulltag [citation needed] * Cyber's map notes * Some of these maps I barely had to touch, others required a little more work before I could include them here. In a lot of cases it was simply a matter of replacing the old keycard/particle fountain things with the CTF standard flags and team starts. Sometimes I was required to add orientation to those player spawns too. Or there were minor matters such as finding a fitting sky or appropriate MIDI for a map, fixing sprite/sound clashes, etc, etc. The following maps required a little more love: The VG Museum - Snowbro had me knock a couple of secrets out of this. He confesses it was his first ever map. Deimos Reloaded - Made base colours a bit more intuitive and had to find a new MIDI for it as Ghosts of Mars was using the same tune. Caliginous - This map was only sorta half-textured, so I continued it in the direction I thought it was intended to go. Twin Temples - This also had no real texturing. As the map was based on a Quake map of the same name then I gave it that theme. Also had to tinker with the items here too. LaCTF - This map was in a sorry state, with linedef-thin walls and all kinds of hideousness. Kicked it into an almost respectable shape. Nightmoves - Da_maniaC was making this as a CTF version of a UT Jailbreak map but never finished it. It was passed to Earthquake to do so but that never happened either. ManiaC and I ended up passing it back and forth recently and really rocked the joint. Although the basic map and all the cool detail is his ;> L.A. Rumble - This map was just one complete side, I had to mirror it. Sol - Fixed the two teleports which had the same tag. * Updates for zdctf_bsides_ version * I originally considered this would be a throwaway pack, but people kept on playing it and there were so many things that needed fixing or could be improved on, so I went and did just that. Technocracy - tore out a crapload of vertices and succeeded in eliminating some of the slime trails the renderer was throwing up. Not perfect, but way better than it was. Congestive Issues - Varied texturing a bit more, added lighting and arrows so it's now easier to orientate after a spawn. Introduced 'Automap console' to get around the replacement of that pickup sprite. Pier Pressure - Massive retexturing to aid in coordination. Fixed some water areas that would not kill and a broken teleport from plasma. The VG Museum - Switched the places of the wrong-coloured trees. Enlarged the directional signs and placed a few more of them. Subway - Added signs to make it more clear where flag is and which are dead- end areas. Deimos Reloaded - Fixed texturing anomalies and also tidied up the map, which had been littered with non-fatal errors. Under Siege - Central plasma lift now more stable. Catapult should work! 'Airsupply 0' means players will now never 'drown' on ladders. Caliginous - Widened some passages and made the way around a bit more obvious. Yalexa - Fixed sector flats which were corrupt, improved base colouration. Twin Temples - Incorporated more directional signs, gave teleport lifts their own tags (so they don't move together). Icecap - Rounded-up lift speed to make it smooth. Marginal texture work. Fixed miscreditation of map. LaCTF - moved soulsphere to the 'centre' of the map. Nightmoves - Da_maniaC fixed something small. Map still won't work on Zdaemon until 1.08.09. JACKTHERIPPER'S TWO LIMBOS - Smoothed out plasma lift speed. Fixed textures. The Last Stand - Fixed texture alignments, added weapon to huge open outside area, increased speed of 'the lift from hell' and removed a really nasty secret which would block off a whole route. L. A. Rumble - Widened main staircase, made falling from buildings instantly kill players, fixed some texture alignments and thing placement. Inner Limits - new to this version. Nobody ever plays 4ctfepic so this map needed some more love! Sol - messed with reigning the map in a bit, but ultimately EQ and I decided it would probably never be truly playable in any form, so it stays the same. Ghosts of Mars - Fixed some colouration issues and this map now gives automap to players by default, every time they spawn. Mappack should now be 100% compatible with Skulltag (with the correct server settings) and includes GLDEFS for replaced sprites. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may NOT use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse, WITH THE EXCEPTION of all flats, textures, sounds and music.
