The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy meets Doom
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This file contains samples from the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy BBC
Radio series.   The sound effects were literally ground-breaking, with
many of them taking days to perfect - followed by axing them for
something even wilder.
I've scanned both series (all six hours) for useful sounds, and feel
I've been fairly thorough - I have some sounds left over, which I
*could've* put in, but I just ran out of spaces to put them in :-)
(Fans of the series may like to know that I *ached* over whether or not
to sample the lift scene for the lift sound - that was going a bit far
though).
This is strictly silly, and should *never* be used for serious Dooming,
having the same effect on the atmosphere as 4 Commander Keen's hanging
on nooses >;-)   Some of the sounds are quite long, and others (esp. the
"Naughty" sound) have been deliberately included to annoy the hell out
of you after 2 minutes.
If you have enjoyed the experience of this .WAD, why not share it with
your  friends?   You may also use it as a base for new wads, though I
would appreciate an email if you do use it.   Suggestions can also be
mailed to [email protected].
Acknowledgements go to Douglas Adams, the BBC, the BBC Radiophonic
Workshop, and the actors whose voices I took - Simon Jones, Peter Jones,
Steven Moore, and some others whose names I have forgotten.
Share and enjoy!
