'ddompack01' 11/10/13 compiled by cybershark ([email protected]) I'm so sick of looking at this thing. So allow me to finally present to you: THE FIRST DOUBLE-DOMINATION MAPPACK FOR ZDAEMON !! No really, it is. See my shpiel at the end of this textfile if you're really interested. Maps: Map01 "GarDom" by cybershark music: La Roux - In For The Kill Map02 "STARGR" by cybershark music: Rage Against The Machine - Freedom Map03 "Acid Broke" conversion of my own map from n00b deathball music: SaxxonPike - Griffin (taken from http://modarchive.org/) Map04 "Pyramids of Mars" by cybershark music: Peter J Salomonsen - Desert Mood (taken from http://modarchive.org/) Map05 "Temple of Aphrodite" by cybershark music: siouxsie And The Banshees - Kiss Them For Me Map06 "Obligatory Lulz Map" by cybershark music: The Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance) Map07 "The First Bit" conversion of Hobomaster's map from 8bitCTF music: Hydra - C64 Theme Map08 "Tri-Pod" conversion of Exl's map from UCTF/ZDUCTF music: Plutonia map13 Map09 "Small Encounter" by Luca95 (aka Dark-Karasu aka [XXX]Black-Star) music: Guilty Gear XX - Suck A Sage Map10 "Lush" by cybershark music: Orbital - Lush 3-1 Map11 "Emily III" by cybershark music: Stabbing Westward - Shame (remix) Map32 "Grosse Point Dom" conversion of DoomII map32 music: Tricks & Traps - Evil Incarnate (https://soundcloud.com/trickstraps) Intermission music: The Prodigy - Girls Title Music: Filter - One Run server as DDOM with whatever other settings you feel like. Just ensure that teamstarts are enabled. Objective? Teams must take control of both domination points and hold onto them for 8 seconds to score a point. There's a few new items to pickup in these maps. Nothing that's overly retarded or confusing though! These are: ARMORSPHERE - awards 2 points of armor every 2 seconds the player stays alive. This will not exceed 200% REGENSPHERE - boosts players health by 5% every 5 seconds up to a maximum of 100% LARGE HEALTH BONUS - similar to the regular blue health potions that appear in Doom, but these grant an extra 5% of health. As with their Doom counterparts, they can boost health beyond 100%, all the way up to 200% SMALL BOX OF ROCKETS - contains 3 rockets rather than 5 ENERGY CELL MINIPACK - gives 100 cell ammo SILVER ARMOR - 50% armor pickup GOLD ARMOR - awards 300% armor (if you can find it!) Thanks go out to: The people: Luca for his map Hobomaster & Exl for having maps which were free to mess with. Worst for his DEHSUPP knowhow UD for the pallete - or wherever it was that came from Tricks & Traps for their scorching version of D2M31's music! Kilgore for the mode and for giving me some videos of it being played on UT. Milian for a few of his graphics. Mr Chris for his Half Life graphic rips. Scalliano for the Regensphere sprites. Luciano for the base of the Armorsphere. Aap & Geit for one of their sprites Clan XXX All the graffiti artists whose work I used Hexadecima & TheCupboard just for being generally supportive The games: Rise of The Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Heretic, Half-Life, Crysis, Powerslave, Unreal Tournament The WADs: ThePortal, The Last Resort, Epic2, 8bitCTF Copyright / Permissions: Authors MAY do whatever the hell they like with it You MAY distribute the WAD, provided you include this text file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. Shpiel: * I created my first ever Ddom map for Kilgore almost 4years ago (that map's included, but it looks a damn sight different now). Back when I made it Ddom wasn't even in the private testing phase and the dom points were being spawned at the positions of red and blue flags. But without being able to test these things, I was prettymuch working in the dark. And nobody else seemed to have a clue (or any interest in mapping for it). Then somebody made the dick move of deciding to take my semi-complete maps and throw them up on a server for some testing. Even the ones with no guns in ffs. So I just dumped the project for a while. Of course, since then, a whole community pack sprung up. Predictably it got named "zd ddom map pack1", like there's some kind of official seal of approval for these things or as if the maps somehow met up to some kind of gold standard. Krawa was also the worst admin for that project. Nicest guy, but that came to be a problem when I'd suggest things get fixed in some maps. Because he'd rather have flawed maps out there than risk upsetting the authors. Anyway, I got back to working on this from time to time. Converted a couple of maps, added some new ones, got one from Luca. But I kept on polishing it up and thinking "hey I could add just one more map to round the pack out!" and so it's just been in this whole Duke Nukem Forever/Zdaemon1.09 state for years with constantly moving goalposts and never getting closer to actual release. But enough now. Four years for just eight original maps is truly ridiculous, and I just want it crossed off my WIP list. It's not like anybody's even going to play it, so why keep toiling away? I'm not sure that half of the players on Zdaemon know what Double Domination is, and significantly less than that would be seen dead in a server playing it. Maybe it'll get some games in South America (where they love their 3 and 4 way CTF). But I kinda doubt it. Maybe I'll port it to Zandronum now. It'd still only get played twice a year, but at least people would bother to show up there to play it. Not that I imagine the maps are the greatest things. Idk. Some of them had a bit of a playtest once, but they've all changed greatly since then. I can certainly guarantee that this pack is no worse than "the official one" XD
