The runway lights are off given you a bad feeling. So you count your remaining ammo and ready your army pistol. You carefully open the door to the command center and see the dead corpses of scientist next to a group and imps and zombiemen. The army of hell came to earth! Luckily you had some practice in monster bashing on Mars and in Hell. After clearing the spaceport you find a message left on one of the control monitors asking you to find the Sky Oracle. What the hell is the Sky Oracle? You make a detour to the storage area of the spaceport and equip yourself with some heavy weapons and tons of ammo. Then you enter the sewers below the spaceport because you think it's easier to travel underground than on the surface full of spawns of hell. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP02 - Underhalls Number of Secrets : 9 Remarks : Someone is polluting the water. * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 1 day Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * When you see that the water is shining green in the darkness below the spaceport, you realize that your choice to go underground wasn't the best idea. You clear the monster dwelling and find a stairway going down into darkness. After a long fall you see some strange plains floating in the sky coming closer to you. As you almost reached them, you fall slows down and you smoothly land on one of them. You suddenly feel so light and after doing a few steps you realize that you can actually fly in this strange realm. You explore the other building on the other plains and finally discover the castle of the Sky Oracle, but just to learn that even this place has been overrun by hell spawns. You find a secret message from the Sky Oracle left for you telling you to search for an angel living in a secret castle in a far mountains. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP05 - Grasslands Number of Secrets : 9 Remarks : The green fields of Earth. * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The portal opens and you enter, to see the green fields of Earth. Home at last. Sounds like a dejavu? You explore the grasslands and find three towers habited by monsters. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP06 - Grasslands II Number of Secrets : 8 Remarks : The beginning of a very very long poisoned river. * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 3 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * It's already after sunset when you leave the towers behind you. You see a small river dropping from a waterfall in the far and decide the follow it. When you go near, you see that the water has a dreadful green color and suddenly hordes of monsters appear around you. After showing them the power of your weapons, you follow the bad river to find out where it's delivering its deadly water. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP07 - Haunted Chapel Number of Secrets : 7 Remarks : If you already think this is scary then better don't play MAP22 (Catacombs). * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 3 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * It's already past midnight when you finally find an exit from the caves where the poisoned river disappeared. You come to a small valley with a lone chapel and a cemetary. As you already guessed, this haunted place is habited by monsters too. You fight your way down to the catacombs below the chapel and here you meet the bad river again which flooded the whole catacombs. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP08 - Tricks'n'Traps Number of Secrets : 16 + 1 super secret Remarks : In 1997 I had a first version of Tricks'n'Traps but I made the mistake to name it TNT.WAD and when it was just finished a friend copied me the two popular addons PLUTONIA.WAD and T... 15 years later I started to make a new version of my Tricks'n'Traps level - bigger and better - much bigger and much better! * Construction * Year : 2012 Build Time : 14 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : DOOM 2 v1.666 crashes when attempting to save the game due to the big map size; however if you don't die you can finish the map without problems. * Description * Since you don't see another way to escape from the haunted chapel, you jump into the knee-deep toxic water and follow the underground river. But after a few meters your way is blocked by a grate. So you jump through a breach in the wall and find yourself in the subterranean halls of a secret military base full of monsters and traps. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP09 - The Pit Number of Secrets : 4 Remarks : A deep dark pit. * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * Tons of ammo and monster corpses later you found a way to the other side of the grate. You grab a radiation shielding suit and follow the underground river till it comes to the surface where it drops into a giant pit. It's still in the middle of the night and down below in the pit you hear the screams and grunts of more hell spawns. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP10 - Sewers Number of Secrets : 24 Remarks : The largest map I've ever build. Also the first map where I used light and shadows and added tons of details to each room, like furniture, damaged walls, detailled architecture to give the map the feeling of a real city. * Construction * Year : 1999 Build Time : 10 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : DOOM 2 v1.666 crashes when attempting to save the game due to the big map size; however if you don't die you can finish the map without problems. * Description * You exit the pit by following the poisoned river again which leads you to the sewers of a nearby city. At the first opportunity you climb up a small stairs and when exiting the sewers you get blinded by the glare of the first sun light in the morning. You just have enough time to notice that you're somewhere in the suburbs of a megacity before you get attacked by monsters crawling out of every single building. You retreat back to the sewers and try another exit. After several hours in the toxic sewers of the city, you realize that the whole city has been overrun by the army of hell. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP11 - Nuclear Plant Number of Secrets : 9 Remarks : The end of a very very long poisoned river. * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The toxic river flows into a poisoned lake with a military base it its middle and a nuclear plant next to it. You weren't even able to wonder why the polluted water ends at the nuclear plant instead of having its origin here, when a salvo of imp fireballs shots at you. You recharge your shotgun and start clearing the base. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP12 - Factory Number of Secrets : 22 Remarks : A small map but with high detail level. * Construction * Year : 1999 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * A secret tunnel leads you to the other side of the power plant and ends in an abandoned factory which is now habited by monsters. You fight your way through all the halls full of huge machines till you reach a large storage room. Every single building is occupied by monsters. And it's a dead end. If you could get access to the locomotive then you would be able to reach your destination much faster. So you search the nearby trainyard and industrial zone for the access key. Since you can't find a landing site, you decide to parachute down. But unfavourable winds make you land far away from your destination. You explore the huge fairytale castle that is hidden in the Mountains of Solitude and of which every man thought it's just a legend. You can't find the princess of angels, but she left a message in her throneroom asking you to destroy the icon of sin. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP16 - Suburbs Number of Secrets : 23 + 1 super secret Remarks : Some secrets are really tricky. * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 1 day Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * It's already midnight when the train arrives at Doom-City, the place which Kitana told you to visit to stop the army of hell. A huge pyramid rises from the middle of the city. You know that you have to enter it to get closer to the source of the invasion. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP17 - Streetwars Number of Secrets : 11 Remarks : Don't wake up sleeping monsters. * Construction * Year : 2013 Build Time : 5 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : None (but had to remove most of the street lighting to avoid visplane errors) * Description * The teleporter in the pyramid transports you to another city. It's still in the middle of the night and you got no idea where you are. But it looks like you're still on earth. You carefully explore the sleeping city and quickly find out that you're the only human being here. Its residents are spawns of hell. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP18 - Sewage Works Number of Secrets : 6 Remarks : Follow the flow. * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * You follow the poisoned sewers and come to the sewage works. When you come back to the surface, you see that it's already early morning and sun has just risen. This make you feel confident that you're still on earth. After killing all monsters in this place, you find a secret tunnel which hopefully takes you closer to your destination. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP19 - Outpost of Hell Number of Secrets : 12 Remarks : No, it's not Heretic. * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 3 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The teleporter at the end of the tunnel transports you to a medieval castle occupied by hundreds of monsters. After dealing with its habitants you leave this strange place behind you and come to a small town. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP20 - Cacoville Number of Secrets : 20 Remarks : Where have you seen this place before? * Construction * Year : 1997 Build Time : 1 day Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * Because you see many cacodemons flying around, you decide the name this place "Cacoville". After killing more and more monsters you finally find a breach in the wall of a side building which unveils a dark tunnel going down deep below the earth. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP21 - Nirvana Number of Secrets : 7 Remarks : Welcome to Hell! * Construction * Year : 2013 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : None * Description * The tunnel is going deeper and deeper, crossing small and large chasms with bubbling lava on their ground. Suddenly the tunnel ends and you're outside again, standing at the edge of a lake of lava under a surreal red sky. You see some small stone buildings on large rocks in the middle of the lake. And all over the place there are dead people hanging at gallows or in cages over the lava. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP22 - Catacombs Number of Secrets : 34 Remarks : And the dead shall be raised! * Construction * Year : 2013 - 2014 Build Time : 14 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : DOOM 2 v1.666 crashes when attempting to save the game due to the big map size; however if you don't die you can finish the map without problems. * Description * At the basement of one of the buildings you find stairs going down deeper and deeper. You assume that you're already deep below the lava lake when the stairs end at the entrance to catacombs. You explore the first corridors and realize that the catacombs get wider and wider. You haven't even seen such wide catacombs on Mars. There are hundreds and thousands of grave-chambers. When you come closer to the tombs, the deads raise and start attacking you. You fight your way from one chamber to the next till you finally got lost in the dark. You're close to giving up - lost in the dark labyrinth, surrounded by undead. But then you find a teleporter somewhere on the third sublevel transporting you away from this scary place. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP23 - Barrels o' Fun Number of Secrets : 8 Remarks : Boooom! * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 1 day Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The teleportation ends in a cage surrounded by explosives. You free yourself from the cage and run as fast as you can, hearing hundreds of detonations behind you. The blast of the last detonation throws you into another room filled with explosives. So you pull yourself together and run again. You run from one room to the next and flee from one explosion to the next. Now you're sure that you're in hell! You just stepped into the red liquid when you see the first squadron of cacodemons and painelements at the sky. You ready your rocket launcher, your plasma gun, and your BFG9000 to give hell a warm welcome. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP25 - Bloodfalls Number of Secrets : 10 Remarks : Another bloody mess! * Construction * Year : 2014 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : None * Description * You follow the blood flow upstream and come to a huge bloodfall. It seems the blood is falling directly from the skies. You have no idea how this can be possible but you like it much more than finding millions of slain humans. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP26 - Abandoned Mines Number of Secrets : 12 Remarks : The Dwarves delved too greedily and too deep. * Construction * Year : 1998 Build Time : 1 day Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The cave you've found behind the bloodfalls leads to an abandoned mine which is now occupied by monsters. You explore the old tunnels deep below the mountains and after killing hundreds of hell spawns you find a door right down at the bottom of the mine. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP27 - The Dark Number of Secrets : 14 Remarks : Where is the $@!# light switch!? * Construction * Year : 1997 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * Behind the door there is a deep and dark cave. And you can already hear the distant noise of monsters somewhere in the dark. You ready your chaingun and start to carefully explore the darkness. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP28 - The Great Temple Number of Secrets : 18 Remarks : Flood the pit! * Construction * Year : 1998 + 2014 Build Time : 7 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : None * Description * You finally find a tunnel leading away from the darkness to a large pit with a giant marble temple surrounded by some strange buildings. All buildings are several 100 feet high. But even stranger is that the entire pit is fill knee-deep with green toxic water. You jump into the water and run to the entrance of the first side building. Then you hear the screams of 1000 hell spawns and when watching up, you see a wave of cacodemons dropping from the roof of the great temple. You fight your way from one building to the next, but you can't find a way to enter the temple, because it got no entrance on ground level and the elevators in the side buildings seem to be dead and the stairs are blocked. After killing hundreds of monsters, you find a switch labelled "Danger - Do not press". You understand this as an invitation to press it. You hear bubbling noise from outside and the surface of the toxic water is quickly raising. 10 feet below the temple roof it stops raising. You grab a radiation shielding suit and swim to the other buildings which you can now enter by their balconies. Here you finally find the switches that open the entrance to the great temple. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP29 - Temple of Doom Number of Secrets : 11 Remarks : The end is close! * Construction * Year : 1996 Build Time : 2 days Editors used : DETH 3.0, ZenNode 0.95b Known Bugs : None * Description * The portal of the great temple transports you to a small lava-filled cave. When you leave the cave, you notice that it's almost midnight. A small mountain path leads you to another temple. You climb up the wide stairs to its entrance. With every step you can feel the evil inside the temple more clearly. You know, you're very close to the Icon of Sin now - the end of your dangerous journey. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP30 - Icon of Sin Number of Secrets : 12 Remarks : Game over! * Construction * Year : 2014 Build Time : 4 days Editors used : Doom Builder 2.1.0, XWE 1.16 Known Bugs : None * Description * Deep inside the temple you find the entrance to a secret cave. While you climb down deeper into the cave, the temperature is quickly raising. Rivers of lava flowing through the cave which got pretty large now. Suddenly you're surrounded by the undead soldiers of hell. You just escaped being killed, but only to face an even bigger manace. Hell is mobilizing its last large army, led by its greatest and deadliest commanders. You can't remember how long the battle took, but finally you killed the last cyberdemon and the last spider mastermind. You follow the underground path which ends at a bubbling river of lava. With the help of an artifact you cross the river unharmed and reach a dark castle in a great cave. The castle is inhabited by barons of hell, and you know that you'll soon face the lord of hell himself! In the throne room the cyberdemon lord is waiting for you. You think "Well, just another little cyberdemon. No challenge for someone who killed hundreds of them ..." But this one turns out to be a mighty wizard and his magic tricks almost ended your battle for earth. The demonlord is hunting you through the dark corridors of his castle. But in the end, you're the guy with the bigger gun. You stand at his smoky remains when you hear a hellish laugh. This tells you, it's not yet over. So you explore the castle and find a secret exit. The cave behind the castle has burning walls and there are dead people all over. You've reached the inmost chamber of hell! And at its end you see the biggest demon ever - laughing and waiting for you. "Muhahaaaah! Give up, mortal! Nobody can kill me!" You retreat back to the sewers and try another exit. Then you hear the screams of 1000 hell spawns and when watching up, you see a wave of cacodemons dropping from the roof of the great temple. You fight your way from one building to the next, but you can't find a way to enter the temple, because it got no entrance on ground level and the elevators in the side buildings seem to be dead and the stairs are blocked. After killing hundreds of monsters, you find a switch labelled "Danger - Do not press". You understand this as an invitation to press it. You hear bubbling noise from outside and the surface of the toxic water is quickly raising. 10 feet below the temple roof it stops raising. You grab a radiation shielding suit and swim to the other buildings which you can now enter by their balconies. Hell is mobilizing its last large army, led by its greatest and deadliest commanders. You can't remember how long the battle took, but finally you killed the last cyberdemon and the last spider mastermind. You follow the underground path which ends at a bubbling river of lava. With the help of an artifact you cross the river unharmed and reach a dark castle in a great cave. The castle is inhabited by barons of hell, and you know that you'll soon face the lord of hell himself! In the throne room the cyberdemon lord is waiting for you. You think "Well, just another little cyberdemon. No challenge for someone who killed hundreds of them ..." But this one turns out to be a mighty wizard and his magic tricks almost ended your battle for earth. The demonlord is hunting you through the dark corridors of his castle. But in the end, you're the guy with the bigger gun. You stand at his smoky remains when you hear a hellish laugh. This tells you, it's not yet over. So you explore the castle and find a secret exit. The cave behind the castle has burning walls and there are dead people all over. You've reached the inmost chamber of hell! And at its end you see the biggest demon ever - laughing and waiting for you. "Muhahaaaah! Give up, mortal! Nobody can kill me!"
