================================ OBLIVION ======================================

Description : A complete replacement WAD for the "Inferno" episode.
DOOM architects : Malcolm Jarvis (Demon) & Chris Moir
Design Time : Lots - on and off since the release of DEU 5.0
Known bugs : A few, mostly walls that can be seen through at the right (wrong)
angle. If anyone can fix em feel free, and give yourself credit
at the bottom of this TXT file.
Multiplayer support : Yup } As all these levels were designed and tested on
Deathmatch support : Yup ) my trusty 486/SX25 I haven't tested these although
I suspect somelevels will work better than others.

                           ** Important **
This is not another "I wonder how many Barons of Hell I can fit in" set
of levels. It is possible to complete these levels without typing any
of the cheats, just remember to save regularly and enjoy the adrenalin
    rush :).

To run : Just unpack OBLIVION.ZIP / .ARJ or whatever in your Doom directory and
type "oblivion". Alternatively just put oblivion.wad in your Doom
          directory and type :

                doom -file oblivion.wad

this will replace the entire Inferno episode with Oblivion.

Level descriptions :

Mission 1 - Arena Author - Malcolm Jarvis

This level is pretty huge. All weapons are available apart from the BFG-9000
and there are plenty neat touches IMHO. You start off headed towards the
Arena in search of the yellow and red keys to escape to the rest of the level.
Don't fall off the bridge lest you be burnt, mauled and generally hurt in the
pit below. There are two secret bits to find, one easy and one hard. There are
two BoH but they're difficult to find and you are well rewarded - just remember
not to be too greedy. Once you're out of the arena keep an eye out for sneeky
Cacodemons. Hint : Ignore the Cyber-foozle, he's just there as a portable
unseen missile laucher to get you hurrying along the corridor, just dont try
fight him (can if ya want, just don't blame me if you get nuked :)). You'll
find the exit somewhere around Hell Keep (you'll know it when you see it).

Mission 2 - Darkness Author - Chris Moir

This is Chris' first level and its pretty scary. There's a secret door near the
start through which you'll find a Soul-Sphere and an Invulnerability but at what
cost? Unsurprisingly this level gets somewhat dark at points and you might find
using the map the only way of finding your way out of some rooms.

Mission 3 - Death Caves Author - Chris Moir

A huge underground complex of interlinked caverns and tunnels makes this level
extremely unpredictable as one shot in the wrong place can activate all the bad
guys at the same time! Still its a great laugh and one of my favourites.

Mission 4 - Explosions! Author - Malcolm Jarvis

This level is a short but funny one. The first section has loads of traps in
the way of exploding barrels (there's over 400 of em <bg>). After this a short
trip through some imp infested caverns where there is a secret supply cache.
The only other advice I'm giving you is to follow the Yellow Sick Toad?!? :)
Honest...

Mission 5 - Complex Author - Malcolm Jarvis

This level incorporates my first ever rising stair case (pretty easy really),
and a horde of Imps (my least favourite). Places to look out for are the cells
and the computer room. Things get pretty nasty around here so remember to save
regularly. If you do things right you should some off this level with 100%
health and armour (you'll need 'em).

Mission 6 - Castle of Dread Author - Malcolm Jarvis

This level is situated in a huge castle complete with courtyard, dungeons and
throneroom. I resisted the temptation to put a BoH in a throne as there's one
already down the dungeons! Don't panic to much though - the BFG-9000 is on
this level too <g>.

Mission 7 - Lair of the Imps Author - Chris Moir

The Imps house can be found at the end of this level, following a maze of
monster haunted corridors. There are two BoH hanging around here but they're
not too hard to see off. The nasty bit with the Sergeants and the walls
(YKIWYSI) was Rab Smith's idea and the only one he's had so far this year.
Still, the entrance to the secret level is somewhere around here - but you'll
meed a Rad-Suit to get to it. Oh yeah, the candles mark your take off point?!?

Mission 8 - Lair of the SpiderDemon Author - Malcolm Jarvis

I thought that instead if the usual walk along, fight monster, end episode thing
I would put a level in first. Seeing as this is level eight I figured I could
put some real nasties in so save, save, save! This in mind there are less
BoH than last level. The SpiderDemon isn't all you have to worry about in his
lair, but once you've killed his lackies you can turn the scenery to your
advantage (I ended up killing it with the shotgun, so it can't be too hard).
The most useful thing here is the Blur Sphere, but you'll have to get to it
first!

Mission 9 - Satan's Throneroom Author - Chris Moir

I made the mistake of telling Chris he could put anything he wanted in the
secret level so I had to talk him out of half of the bad dudes. All the same,
this is one smart level and worth finding (or typing IDCLEV39 if you're too
lazy :)). There are a number of nasty optical illusions around so mind your
step. Don't fall in a pit of eternal peril or you'll soon be perilled to
death! It would appear that Satan isn't home right now but I'm sure the
cleaner will give you ample trouble!

Although there is no distinct similarity between any of these levels there is
a strict order of difficulty which should be challenging at the same time as
being enjoyable.

Acknowledgements :

Anyone and everyone who had anything to do with DEU, the most excellent WAD
editor in existance IMHO.

Everyone else who puts so much effort in to designing Doom WADs. I make a
point of collecting as many as possible and I get plenty of ideas and hints
from them.

ID (of course) for creating the best game so far this century.

Chris, for occassionally taking my advice and getting rid of some monsters and
putting some textures in that weren't STARTAN3.

Anyone capable of completing Doom without sticking Degreelessness mode on or
Very Happy Ammo.

Acronyms (For the confused) - IMHO : In My Humble Opinion
YKIWYSI : You'll Know It When You See It

Additional notice - Don'y knock the GUS. Although in some situations its SB
emulation sucks, it is mostly very good. Doom's atmosphere
increases 100% when using a big set of stereo speakers in
the dark - try it... you might like it. <g>
