But here, the air is dry and unbearable. Around you, you can see only burning hot orange rocks. You look up at the sky to try and understand but some ominous and imposing skulls are watching your every move and seem to want your death. Your multiple brave acts have not taken you to heaven. No, you are here in the tangerine hell. Welcome to Tangerine Nightmare. [1.2 Compatibility] Tangerine Nightmare is a limit-removing compatible wad. We recommend you to use a Boom port to play it. Map08 is an IOS map and needs the Boom compatibility to work correctly on demo recording. You thus need the '-complevel 9' command in order to record demos on this map. Doom-Retro is highy recommended for the best experience ! Authors comments : The castle is based on a map of Datacore. With its consent, I profoundly modified this base, and I then made mountains all around (it's probably my main speciality ^^). It was a bit simplistic, but I liked the layout, so when offered the chance of improving the map's visuals, I gave it a go. I redetailed the whole map inside and out before Franck revamped the outside area (and what an improvement it is !) and made the crosses near the ending. franckFRAG : I think that my vision of this map was different than that of Datacore and Wilou. Rain of Embers was made by Datacore, and Wilou had come to make improvements. FRADM for some details about floor. Author comments : Jambon: It was planned to be my second map. Expect some intense firefights. Here's some trivia : back when Datacore started this project, he came up with a strict set of rules which read : - Available weapons : Super Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Chainsaw - Available monsters : Imp, Demon, Spectre, Cacodemon, Pain Elemental, Revenant, Lost Soul, Arch-Vile, Mancubus, Baron of Hell, and Cyberdemon. - Only one key. I thought it'd be interesting to try and make a map following this arbitrary ruleset. The challenge was to create something challenging and interesting while relying mostly on the Rocket Launcher. Thus, "Umbreion Nils" was born, and it was supposed to be the final map of the episode. Then, when FranckFRAG stepped in to lead the project, he removed these rules - and it was for the better. Still, since the traps in my map were envisioned for the Rocket Launcher only, and since it was more difficult than the rest of the maps, we thought it would be best to move this map to the 31st slot. Moreover, I added in a couple Hell Knights and Arachnotrons (which weren't permitted by Datacore's rules) to make use of the nice new sprites - I particularly like Eriance's Arachnotron replacement. Have fun with this one.
